Abstract:

One of the most important industries in the agricultural sector ofIran is tomato processing industry. This industry also is important in Fars Province. The objective was to study efficiency of firms in Fars province.Data Envelopment Analysis was used for analyzing efficiency. Result showed that by using 97801 million Rials of capital, 909 man per year of labor, 56814 square meter of building and 225492 square meters of land that respectively were 61.42%, 36.05%, 42.73% and 57.71% less than current condition of using these resources, 164 thousand tons of tomato paste could be produced that was 1.66% greater than current production. This is possible by technical changes and use of full capacity of tomato paste industries. In this context, extending credit, subsidy and price support for tomato and tomato paste producers are suggested. Design of new tomato paste firms and corresponding costs could be analyzed byusing the approach proposed in this study.

Abstract:

Fars province with a share of more than 16 percent holds the highest rank in producing tomato in Iran. This study aims at determining priorities for tomato processing centers in Fars province’s townships. To achieve the study objective a distance minimizing pattern was used for transportation network between producing and processing centers as well as processing and consumption centers. A part of the study data was collected using questionnaires completed by processing centers in 2009. The other part of the study data was obtained from the Iranian Agriculture Ministry website. Using the marginal distance measured by the optimal solution model, an average distance was calculated for paths ending in each township. The study findings revealed that paths ending in townships of Marvdasht, Shiraz, Pasargad, Eqlid and Khorrambid lead to the lowest increase in total transferring. It was also found that the distance from consumption centers is important in determining the priority of townships, and hence the northern townships of Fars province have more suitable position to establish new processing centers.

Abstract:

Tomato seeds are the main component of tomato pulp and considered as an excellent source of edible oils, protein, and essential amino acids. Tomato seeds can be used as an important source of protein for human nutrition. The purpose of present study was to evaluate the effect of heat treatment on functional properties of tomato seed flour. The functional properties studied included water absorption capacity, oil absorption capacity, emulsification, foaming capacity and solubility. Isoelectric point of sample was around pH 4, while the highest solubility was observed around pH 12. The lowest value for all functional properties was observed at isoelectric point, which can be due decreased protein solubility at this point. Emulsion and foam properties of tomato seeds were desirable and therefore it can be used in some food formulation. Tomato seeds had some essential amino acid like phenylalanine, glutamic acid, aspartic acid, lysine and tryptophan.

Abstract:

In this paper, an alternative approach in operational modal analysis is presented, utilizing image processing technique and transmissibility functions. Imaging sensors do not impose additional mass on the structure due to their non-contact nature, while transmissibility functions, independent of excitation type, can directly extract mode shapes. The innovation of this research lies in combining these two techniques to record dynamic responses and identify modal properties. To capture the temporal response history from video signals, the block-matching method with sub-pixel accuracy was employed. Validation was conducted by recording the response of the tip of a cantilevered steel beam subjected to impact excitation, using a high-speed camera and a laser vibrometer, simultaneously. The RMSE plots in the time domain and the PSD in the frequency domain indicate high accuracy of this method. Using this approach, the displacement time histories of various points on the structure were extracted from the video signals, and the modal properties, including natural frequencies, damping ratios, and mode shapes, were identified using the transmissibility matrix method. The results obtained from the proposed method were compared with the stochastic subspace identification (SSI) method and analytical solutions. The findings reveal the accuracy of the modal identification approach introduced in this article. The highest relative error in estimating the natural frequencies of the first and second modes, compared to the values from the laser method, are 0.19% and 0.13%, respectively, and in comparison to the analytical values, they are 0.34% and 1.5%, respectively.

Abstract:

Accumulation of nitrite and nitrate in foodstuff id considered harmful for human health. In the present study therefore, the effects of processing conditions as well as the storage time on nitrite and nitrate content of coral cultivars of tomatoes were investigated. The experiment was conducted in the department of Technical and Engineering Research, West Azerbaijan Agricultural Research Center. The data were analyzed statistically using the complete randomized block design. In the present work, the effects of heating during processing of tomato pates, sun drying during manufacturing of tomato slices and storage time of tomatoes were studied on the changes of the above-mentioned chemicals. The nitrite and nitrate content of samples were measured using colorimetric method in which the absorbance of coloured complex from the reaction between a diazonium salt with sulphanilamide using N-1- naphthylethylen- diamine (NED) as the coupling agent, was measured at 525 nm. The solutions containing known amounts of nitrite were used to prepare a calibration curve by plotting absorbance against concentration of nitrite in the standard solutions. The results showed that the nitrite content of all samples was than 5 mg/kg and the nitrate content was around 380 mg/kg. The nitrite content of tomatoes increased while the level of nitrate decreased at the same times. During processing of tomato paste and drying of tomato for production of tomato slices changes of nitrate content was monitored and it was shown that in both cases the level of nitrate decreased by 25% and 40% respectively, where as the amount of nitrite increased 69% and 88% respectively at the same time.

Abstract:

To extract protein concentrate from tomato processing wastes, the chemical composition of different parts of tomato processing wastes including tomato processing waste meal, tomato seed meal, and tomato oil extracted seed meal were determined. Protein concentrates were prepared by alkali extraction and acid precipitation. To propose the optimal condition for obtaining the maximum protein yield, we performed alkali extraction by using NaOH in 20-70c and 8-12 degrees of pH. Next, acid precipitation was performed with HCl in 3.3-5.5 degrees of pH. After determining the protein concentration and dissolved protein mass in extract, the optimal condition was obtained at the room temperature (25-27c) and pH=12. The maximum protein yield of tomato processing waste, tomato seed, and tomato oil extracted seed was achieved in the pH of 3.9, 4.1, and 4.1, respectively. The effect of heat treatment during acid precipitation on protein yield and two functional properties including water absorption and oil absorption capacities of protein concentrates were studied at the temperature over the range of 25-100c. Results showed that the highest protein precipitate is obtained at higher temperatures. Moreover, the most protein percentage of both tomato processing waste and tomato seed is given in the room temperature while that of tomato oil extracted seed is achieved at the temperature over the range of 70-85c. In addition, by increasing the temperature in acid precipitation stage, the water and oil absorption of protein concentrates is increased.

Abstract:

In traditional speech processing, feature extraction and classification were conducted as separate steps. The advent of deep neural networks has enabled methods that simultaneously model the relationship between acoustic and phonetic characteristics of speech while classifying it directly from the raw waveform. The first convolutional layer in these networks acts as a filter bank. To enhance interpretability and reduce the number of parameters, researchers have explored the use of parametric filters, with the SincNet architecture being a notable advancement. In SincNet's initial convolutional layer, rectangular bandpass filters are learned instead of fully trainable filters. This approach allows for modeling with fewer parameters, thereby improving the network's convergence speed and accuracy. Analyzing the learned filter bank also provides valuable insights into the model's performance. The reduction in parameters, along with increased accuracy and interpretability, has led to the adoption of various parametric filters and deep architectures across diverse speech processing applications. This paper introduces different types of parametric filters and discusses their integration into various deep architectures. Additionally, it examines the specific applications in speech processing where these filters have proven effective.

Abstract:

In this experiment, the effect of garlic (GP) and tomato (TP) powders on performance, blood parameters, sex differentiation and hatchability of Ross-308 broiler breeders were examined and compared with In-Ovo injection of garlic or tomato hydroalcoholic extracts. In first experiment, 375 hens and 25 roosters (47 wk.) were randomly allocated to 5 treatments and 5 replicates, for 4 weeks. Treatments included: 1) basal diet (control), 2 and 3) basal diet+ 2 and 4 percent of GP, and 4 and 5) basal diet + 2 and 4 percent of TP, respectively. In second experiment, 200 hens and 20 roosters were randomly allocated to 2 treatments including 1) basal diet and 2) basal diet + 4% of TP (selected treatment of the Exp. 1) in 5 replications from 52-56 wk. During incubation period, experimental treatments included: 1) control group, 2) eggs from hens fed 4% TP, 3) In-Ovo injection of physiological serum and 4 and 5) In-Ovo injection of 0.1 and 0.3 ml of garlic and tomato hydroalcoholic extracts. The results of first experiment, adding garlic and tomato powders was not significant on egg qualitative traits and blood parameters (P>0.05). All In-Ovo injection treatments increased fertility percentage (P<0.05). The second experiment results showed that treatments had no significant effect on the percent of males and females (P>0.05). In general, addition of 4 percent tomato powder to broiler breeders in comparison to In-Ovo injection of hydroalcoholic extracts of garlic and tomato, did not increase male 1-d-old chicks’ percentage of hatched chicks.
